TYVA MODULO develops their own elements for electric aircraft batteries. For this reason, Océan Vital needs a lithium battery manufacturer.

The history of transatlantic flights is indeed rich with the legendary performances of Lindbergh, Mermoz, Rutan, and others.
However, all these flights were running on fossil fuels which are based on resources with scheduled depletion, and have proven harmful effects! The 1st Eraole® carbon-free, non-stop flight will be a performance “pioneer” with major environmental interest for the future of aviation, and for tomorrow’s sustainable transport.

I am Raphaël DINELLI, aircraft pilot and head of the Laboratoire Océan Vital dedicated to renewable energy.

In the last 7 years – sponsored by the major aviation specialists – we have developed an electric aircraft, Eraole, which represented France at the COP21, last December. This aircraft is the result of the major technological advances – it associates electric propulsion with solar power and with energy derived from a marine algae fuel, and has outstanding range and very low carbon emissions.

In a few months, I shall fly this aircraft alone, following Charles Lindbergh’s record path across the Atlantic, from New York to Le Bourget. ÉRAOLE will then become the first eco-friendly certified electric aircraft in the world, with such a long range.

Custom-made battery for picking trolleys, Signature Logistic

Signature Logistic For more than 20 years has been developing a unique know-how in designing and producing “pick to light” and “put to light” solutions. These skills are used for an optimised management of orders, kits and part assembly preparation. The company is involved in many sectors, including logistics, e-commerce, the food industry, the automotive, retailing, pharmaceutical industries and cosmetics.

  • Customised logistics is individualized logistics which involves the delivery of many items in small quantities, to a large number of recipients. Hence, it imposes a complex flow process requiring maximum optimisation. Signature Logistic designs and produces custom-made tools, suited to the needs of their clients.
  • Beyond the “pick/put to light” technology which is the core-skill of the company, Signature Logistic has an audit capacity allowing them to guide businesses towards the best suited solutions for their trade, their environment, and the skills required for their design, their production and their follow-up.
  • The purpose of “pick/put to light” solutions and Signature is to reduce and even put an end to preparation errors, to make operator integration into the work station easier and to increase productivity.

Amongst the overall solutions produced by Signature Logistic, certain are autonomous, such as picking trolleys or computer trolleys, and require an on-board power supply. Already provider of lead battery units, the company turned to TYVA ENERGIE in order to extend its range with lithium-ion battery units which are lighter than lead. The innovative design of TYVA MODULOO was retained by Signature because it perfectly corresponds to the custom-made positioning of the company. The modular design of each unit is used for designing a trolley without the volume of the power source being a constraint.

Eco Solar Breizh battery solar-powered electric vehicle

TYVA MODULO develops their own elements for electric vehicle batteries. For this reason, Eco Solar Breizh needs a lithium battery manufacturer.

 

Eco Solar Breizh is an association (law of 1901). Its purpose is first and foremost to participate in international competitions for electric solar vehicles. While the best known remains the crossing of Australia, it also participated in various events:

  • Morocco (2nd in 2014 and 2015),
  • Belgium (7th in 2014)
  • the United Arab Emirates (14th in 2015).

Since 2014, Heol has travelled over 7000km, exclusively on solar power.

Apart from the international aspect, the association including about twenty members, all volunteers, relies upon:

 

  • Competition and its energy, being able to mobilise since 2010, the best teams for constant improvement of the vehicle. Innovation is at the core of this project, either by testing new ideas or by testing and revealing the technologies and know-how of their partners from the business and academic sectors. Heol is a sort of “moving laboratory” for all businesses or academic partners. Entities such as AODE ELECTRONICS, VENTEC, TYVA ENERGIE, Brest IUT the high-school Anne-Marie JAVOUHEY, etc. use Heol for testing and/or in-house projects.
  • The young: Since 2010, this means more than 180 young people from all horizons (from the last year before high-school to higher education), whether or not coming from technological education paths, including more than 60 paid internships exceeding a budget of 65k€. For us, the young also means many presentations in high-schools, secondary schools, local events (Brest, Ploudalmézeau, Plouguin, etc.) to raise their awareness of technology and especially to make them aware that tomorrow’s town transport will be soft and green.

In figures, Heol is a 4.5m long and 1.80m wide vehicle, weighing 180kg, with a peak speed of 130km/h.

It is the only French, and Breton withal, presently approved for international competition and will participate in November 2016 in the 4th competition in Morocco during the COP22 in Marrakesh. In March 2017, it is again invited to represent France at the Egyptian Solar Challenge which is considered to be the world championship for solar vehicles. In the 2013-2015 top, Heol came 27th worldwide, out of 58 teams competing in the championship.

The integration of TYVA ENERGIE battery elements is a true technological advance for our vehicle.

Indeed, most international teams have battery packs consisting of soldered 18650Bs. There are risks related to the moment when elements are soldered (overheating, deterioration, poor soldering, etc.), and this assembly allows no modification of battery elements to be made, whether for a repair or a simple modification of its capacity.

Depending upon the competition, the regulations on the number of battery cells may vary. The TYVA MODULO solution is used for easy, safe handling of the 18650Bs. In our case, the number of cells is changed at each competition depending upon the regulatory “gauge” defined by the organiser.
